CORONA MYOPIA IN MAINE (published 5-3-2020)

Introduction

Maine is one example. By my last count, there are 50 states. Examples, in the other 49, abound.

The Example, in Maine

The article, referenced below, is found on Channel 8 WMTW. It is an ABC TV station in Westbrook, Maine.

The title of the article is: "Stage 1 of Maine reopening plan, new face mask requirement in effect," 5/1/2020. (Grammatically, the capitalization of nouns in an article title is, to adapt a phrase, “best practice,” but, commonly now, newspaper and website articles fail to follow “best practice.”) The article lists several mandates, by the governor’s unconstitutional executive orders, which are in effect to 5/31/2020, or longer. This is only Stage 1. I won’t drone on with every mandate here. I’ll quote two mandates (with red font added, for emphasis).

First, “Maine churches are also allowed to conduct limited drive-in services as long as people stay in their vehicles and practice social distancing.” Notice the words “allowed” and “limited.” Are not religious freedom and the freedom to worship rights in this country? This is a classic example of an unconstitutional executive order.

Then, “as part of the extension of the state’s stay-at-home order, people must wear a cloth mask in public beginning Friday.” The article goes into mind numbing details on mask wearing. Notice the word “must.” Of course, to anyone who has any common sense and understanding of freedom, the “must wear a cloth mask” (not a paper mask, by the way) is completely ludicrous! What? Will an officer arrest me or fine me, if I’m not wearing a mask when I’m at the grocery store? I’d like to see one try that on me! I’d utilize the quickest way possible to file a lawsuit. I’d defend myself in court. I would win.

At the end of 2019, the population of Maine was 1.366 million. At the time of my research (Saturday, 5/2/2020, at 8:55 AM), 55 people in Maine had died due to COVID-19, assuming from 1/1/2020 to the date and time stated. The division of 55 by four full months (January - April) means that 13.75 Maine residents die from COVID-19 each month. (How does 0.75 of a person die? I do not round the calculations.) The total number of deaths in Maine, from 1/1/2020 to 5/2/2020, at 9:15 AM, was 4,807. The division of 55 by 4,807 means that 1.14% of total 2020 deaths in Maine, as of 5/2/2020, has been from COVID-19. (Of course, the possible inflation of COVID-19 deaths is common knowledge, as reported in the various media sources.)

I tried to find the total number of 2020, to date, deaths in Maine, by influenza, pneumonia, traffic accidents, heart disease, cancer, and so forth, to compare to COVID-19 deaths. I found only the year-to-date number of COVID-19 deaths in Maine. Maine is a classic example of “Corona Myopia.” There are 50 states.

Governors in various states, including Tennessee, are drunk on their “Corona Myopia” power. They think that they have “executive order power,” which they do not, to enact all types of orders that are not constitutional, according to state constitutions and the US constitution. They claim that they do this to protect citizens from a new cold virus (COVID-19). I suspect other intentions.

“Corona Myopia,” in Maine and in other states, exists. (See the section “Corona Myopia Logic,” in my 4/26/2020 article.) Residents of Maine are stopping it.

Maine Restaurant Owner Defies State Order

I found the story at: “Maine restaurant owner defies state stay-at-home order, loses health license,” on Channel 8 WMTW , 5/2/2020. That article has all the details. It's just one example. Other examples are making the news, in many states.

The article states, for Stage or Phase 1, “while restaurants are allowed to offer takeout, curbside pickup and delivery, dine-in service is not allowed.” (Again, I added the red font, for emphasis.) Notice, once again, allowed and “not allowed.” Even in the former Soviet Union, the Soviet socialist powers never disallowed Soviet citizens the right to dine-in at a Soviet-allowed restaurant!

The article continues: “The reopening of restaurants is part of phase 2 in June, according to the governor's plan.” Well, if the governor just had a plan, as a suggestion only, it might have been fine. Folks could choose, freely, to follow or not to follow his plan. It is not a plan! It is an unconstitutional “executive order.”

The article also states: [Rick] Savage began letting people into his restaurant at about noon after dozens of people lined up outside. He originally planned to open at 4 p.m.” This was good for Rick Savage and good for the folks that want to spend money to dine-in at his restaurant! They are free people in a free nation! I speculate that the authorities in Maine will arrest or continue to fine Rick Savage. Rick Savage will stand his ground! This and a few other cases, which are making the national news, might become a class action lawsuit.

Conclusion

"As for me and my house," we are a free people in a supposedly free nation. We will not back down! (The words of Joshua inspire my thoughts. Please note Joshua 24:15, in the context that final chapter.)

By the way, Mrs. Appalachian Irishman took her father to a medical appointment, which was not postponed, this time, on Thursday, 4/30/2020. The medical folks required that they both wear masks, to tend to my father-in-law; otherwise, they would not tend to him. Now, that’s honoring the Hippocratic Oath! In wisdom, Mrs. Appalachian Irishman and her father complied with that asinine requirement. My father-in-law is fine, as well as he can be, thankfully.

"As for me and my house," we stand against “Corona Myopia” and the violation of our God-given rights. We will not back down! My father used to say, “This country is about gone, boys.” He said that many times, before he went Home, on 1/25/2008. Dad was right – unless we all stand our ground!

Let’s eat supper, dear. I’m hungry. Y’all do the right thing out there. Understand?

HOUSE MOUNTAIN #169 (published 5-3-2020)

On 5/2/2020, Saturday, I hiked My Mountain (also known as House Mountain) for the 169th time. The weather was sunny and warm, but not too warm. I hiked up then back down the west trail only. Enjoy the photos and the commentary!

This is looking southwest, at the west bluff. The tree branch stub, on which I had been hanging my canteen, ball cap, and/or outer layer, had broken off finally, sometime since my last hike. It had been there many years. The two hammocks contained one young person each. They agreed to this photo. I enjoyed a fine conversation with them. Such young folks give one hope for the future.

On the hike back down, I passed several folks hiking up. One group of young people enjoyed my joke: I’d seen a COVID-19 compliant bobcat on the trail, but there were no worries. He was wearing a mask! A young man asked, “Was he wearing gloves?” That was a great continuation of my joke!

I met one group, with each person wearing a mask. I told them about the bobcat. They enjoyed the humor!

I met another group that included a man who was wearing a T-shirt that stated: “I am the Change.” We talked a while. We shook hands (even if the "govrmint" suggests otherwise). He and I were Boy Scouts. We understood each other perfectly! Change is needed. We are one in the Change!

The change at the parking lots was that the governor had lifted his unconstitutional executive order, to “allow” folks to park and hike again. He is still keeping the fancy outhouse locked, as the photo, above, shows. The red tape (no pun intended) signals danger of electrical current. I wondered if the state employee(s), who put up the tape, only had that tape or if the fancy outhouse was wired to shock violators! Of course, one can take a number one or a number two in the woods anywhere, as long as no one notices, of course. Leaves were available, as needed. The governor, as far as I know, did not issue an unconstitutional executive order about relieving one’s self in the woods.

On my House Mountain hike #168, on Good Friday, 4/10/2020, a “state approved,” by unconstitutional executive order, barrier blocked this upper and the lower level parking lots. The barriers are gone. They should have never been there.

I have six more hikes until hike #175 on My Mountain. The Corona Myopia continues; however, it seems to be waning finally. My next post will have further comments on the topic.

Y’all keep ‘em straight out thar! To my good friend, J. S., who attained the young, ol' age of 60 today, my sign off, of the Reverend Billy Ray Collins’ line, is for you! Happy birthday, J. S.! The three-way “conference” call that you, S. H., and I had yesterday was COVID-19 compliant. I was wearing a mask and holding the phone with a gloved hand, to avoid spreading the cold virus through the phone!

CORONA MYOPIA (published 4-26-2020)

Introduction

My 4/19/2020 post still stands: COVID-19, UNCONSTITUTIONAL ‘GOVRMINT’ RESTRICTIONS, AND FACTS. (By the way, Mrs. Appalachian Irishman and I continue to stand, sit, and sleep, at least six feet apart at home, since we “fear” “govrmint” spies! I carry a tape measure, at six-foot extension, to ensure compliance.)

My COVID-19 approved friend, “Anonymous,” who is known well to me, made two fine comments, on 4/23/2020! He and I are kindred spirits in thought on “Corona Myopia” (as I, now, have coined the phrase) and on many other subjects. “Good show, as always,” Mr. “Anonymous!” (The Fox News folks, in the evenings, pass from one show to the other, using the same wording.) By the way, Mrs. Appalachian Irishman, close family and friends (whom I will determine), and “Anonymous” are the only ones permitted to use “Corona Myopia,” without my expressed written permission. No, on second thought, y’all use the phrase widely, as long as you give me credit for having coined it. Okay, let’s get back on track here!

Definitions

Myopia secondary meaning: “a lack of foresight or discernment: a narrow view of something” (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/myopia). (The Greek is muōps, by my education in Koine Greek: muein ‘to shut’ and ōps ‘eye.’ When you blink your eyes, literally, you are myopic.)

Corona is of Latin root. The word has many uses. The root meaning is crown, such as in garland or crown on one’s head, the northern lights, the circle around the sun, the crown or top of a tooth, etc. Coronavirus refers to a family of cold viruses. COVID-19 virus is in the coronavirus family of cold viruses. (I don’t need to add references, as this should be common knowledge.)

Corona Myopia Defined

I, now, define my term. I have coined it by my entry today.

Corona Myopia, by definition, is: “the incorrect and blindingly narrow focus on the COVID-19 cold virus that causes a lack of discernment, judgment, and wisdom and leads to the failure to apply common sense.”

(Mr. Webster has my written permission to place my definition in his dictionary.)

Corona Myopia Number Crunching (Stay with Me!)

(1) My 4/19/2020 post, COVID-19, UNCONSTITUTIONAL ‘GOVRMINT’ RESTRICTIONS, AND FACTS, is a good starting point.

Today, I offer more number crunching. The following numbers are from 1/1/2020 to 4/26/2020, at approximately 3 PM EDST.

(2) 2020 USA 5.5825% DAILY COVID-19 Deaths of TOTAL Deaths:
USA number of deaths (NOT including COVID-19 deaths) per day: 7,755. Note: 4,842 deaths today, so far, showed at my check. The number went up, during the time I was on the website.

I assume that the total DAILY death count, minus COVID-19 deaths, of 7,755 is based on 1/1/2020 to 4/25/2020 DAILY numbers. This is a total of 116 days. On EACH day, of the 116 days so far, 7,755 people died in the USA, by various causes that do NOT include COVID-19 deaths.

899,580 deaths are 7,755 daily (minus COVID-19 deaths) deaths times 116 days so far, in 2020 (1/1/2020 to 4/25/2020). (Information is via https://www.indexmundi.com/clocks/indicator/deaths/united-states.)

NOTE: Tennessee TOTAL deaths, from 1/1/2020 to 4/25/2020: 21,721, which divided by 116 days is 187.25 per DAY. (Information is via the same website. This, apparently, does NOT include COVID-19 daily deaths.)

The website (stated previously) has: “Note: Numbers on this page do not include deaths due to COVID-19. Our estimates are based on deaths reported before the pandemic started. Check our coronavirus section for information about daily and total deaths caused by the virus.”

Their Coronavirus Section (as of 4/26/2020, approximately 3:15 PM EDST):
Total 1/1/2020 to 4/26/2020 (approximately 3:15 PM) COVID-19 (Coronavirus) deaths:
USA: 53,189 divided by 116 full days (1/1/2020 to 4/25/2020) is 458.52 daily. (Again, how does .52 of a person die? I still don’t round my calculations.)
Note: The USA deaths are NOT broken down by state.

The mathematics, by factoring from 1/1/2020 to 4/25/2020, establish:
USA DAILY deaths 7,755 (not including COVID-19 deaths) plus 458.52 calculated COVID-19 DAILY deaths total 8,213.52 daily deaths. 458.52 USA daily COVID-19 deaths divided by 8,213.52 daily USA deaths indicates that 5.5825% of all USA DAILY deaths are by COVID-19.

(3) “Pneumonia and Influenza (P&I) Mortality Surveillance
“Based on National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) mortality surveillance data available on April 23, 2020, 11.4% of the deaths occurring during the week ending April 18, 2020 (week 16) were due to P&I. This percentage is above the epidemic threshold of 6.9% for week 16.” (Exact header and comments are via https://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/ - S2.)

Note: 11.4% of all USA deaths, from 4/12-18/2020, were from pneumonia and influenza. (Where have the media been on this topic?)

(4) 1/1/2020 to 4/23/2020 Total USA Deaths: 876,585 by reason:
NOTE: it is very hard to find a 2020 to date list on the Interweb that does NOT focus on COVID-19 ONLY.

I found what I could (via https://www.pameas.org/deaths; Last Update: April 23, 2020, 3:00 pm Eastern Standard Time). The information appears to be valid sufficiently.
Total USA Deaths: 876,585
Heart Disease: 199,898. (22.8% of deaths.)
Cancer: 184,971. (21.1% of deaths.)
All Medical Errors: 77,186. (8.8% of deaths.)
Chronic Lower Respiratory Diseases: 49,461. (5.6% of deaths.)
COVID-19: 48,868 deaths (866,148 cases, 5.6% mortality rate of cases; 5.5% of total deaths.)
Strokes: 45,195. (5.15% of deaths.)
Alzheimer’s Disease: 37,483. (4.27% of deaths.)
Influenza: 34,377. (3.9% of deaths.)
Diabetes: 25,800. (NOTE: I’ll stop here. You can do the rest of the math!)
Non-Opioid illicit Drug-Induced Deaths: 22,844
Accidental Poisoning: 20,005
Kidney Disease: 15,633
Suicides: 14,564
Motor Vehicle Accidents: 12,421
Deaths from Firearms: 12,280
Septicemia: 12,022
Chronic Liver Disease and Cirrhosis: 11,785
Accidental Falls: 11,219
Alcohol-Induced Deaths: 11,060
Parkinson Disease: 9,868
Medication Errors: 2,779
Obesity-Related Deaths: 2,390
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV): 1,759
Accidental Drownings: 1,145
Deaths during Pregnancy, Childbirth, or the Puerperium: 373
Train Accidents 235
Boat Accidents: 214
Surgical Errors: 123
All Natural Disasters: 110
Lightning Strikes: 16

The daily, often repeated and updated, tally of COVID-19 cases, recoveries, and deaths, by world, nation, state, and city have created Corona Myopia! Where is the daily report of cases, recoveries, and deaths, for heart disease, cancer, influenza, pneumonia, etc., etc.? I rest my case!

Corona Myopia Logic

Whew! All that number crunching takes time. Again, I am not unsympathetic to the family and friends of ALL those who have died this year, by ANY means, including COVID-19.

Mr. “Anonymous” made good points in his two comments. The reasoning is by logical association, which is an inductive form of reasoning that is often valid. My 4/19/2020 post used the same reasoning. Since the political powers that be have stifled to a great degree our God given human rights, in many ways, due to the COVID-19 cold virus, then the political powers that be could continue to stifle our God given human rights to various degrees, due to many other reasons.

For example, many (they could give you the daily number counts) are dying from driving, over eating, smoking, not exercising, heart disease, cancer, pneumonia, influenza, etc., etc. They (i.e., political powers that be) could, or even should, by the argument from association, restrict many other God given human rights. Let’s enumerate a few:
1. No one drives, except for ‘govrmint’ approved and regulated purposes.
2. The speed limit, as Mr. “Anonymous” says, is reduced to 20 miles per hour.
3. The over weight folks who don’t exercise are required to follow a strict ‘govrmint’ approved and regulated diet and exercise program, which is monitored by ‘govrmint’ bureaucrats.
4. Everyone stops smoking and drinking alcohol, as regulated (according to my prior statements).
5. Stop murdering unborn children. Now, this measure MUST be taken! We shutdown the nation, to save lives, but it is okay to kill unborn children in the context (i.e., by abortion)? It’s insanity, of course! The USA 2020 total is 276,502 to date, 6:38 PM, murders of unborn children (i.e., abortion), via http://www.numberofabortions.com/, which is a rate of 20.8% (via https://worldpopulationreview.com/).
6. Etc., etc., ad nauseam.

Conclusion

Do you understand my point? I thought so. I know that I have convinced even the most skeptical of my readers! The Corona Myopia glasses are off!

By the way, read https://coronavirustruths.godaddysites.com/, if you want to find some other good reading on this topic.

To future readers, wake up, America! Join the others, who have taken off their Corona Myopia glasses, before the nation kills itself economically!

COVID-19, UNCONSTITUTIONAL ‘GOVRMINT’ RESTRICTIONS, AND FACTS (published 4-19-2020)

Introduction

Your patience, awaiting this post, is now rewarded! Here it is! (I delayed my, now future, House Mountain hike #169, to get this posted.)

January started as “China virus, also known as corona virus.” February became “Coronavirus!” March became “CORONAVIRUS, also known as COVID-19 virus!!” Now, April is “COVID-19 VIRUS PANDEMIC INSANITY!!!

COVID-19

“Formerly, this disease was referred to as ‘2019 novel coronavirus’ or ‘2019-nCoV.’” “COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. Coronaviruses are a large family of viruses that are common in people and may [sic] different species . . . . This occurred with MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV, and now with the virus that causes COVID-19.” (Quotes are via https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/faq.html. NOTE: “may” should be “many.”)

We know the symptoms all too well, by almost daily media repetition. By the way, don’t forget to wash your hands, to not touch your face, to cough or sneeze into your handkerchief, to wear a mask (even if driving alone, as I have seen several times), and to disinfect household surfaces, while you are “quarantined” at home!

Unconstitutional “Govrmint”

I found Executive Orders, Governor Bill Lee, numbers 14 to 28 (15 total orders) with the subject line “COVID-19” in them (via https://sos.tn.gov/products/division-publications/executive-orders-governor-bill-lee). (This is the count at the date of this entry.) No, I did not take the time to read them all. I did read most of Executive Orders 22 and 23 that closed the parking lots only at House Mountain!

Executive Order 22 refers to Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 58-2-107(e), which I found via https://www.lawserver.com/law/state/tennessee/tn-code/tennessee_code_58-2-107.

Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 58-2-107(e) is a small part of a huge Code that contains a great amount of ‘govrmint’ gibberish. If your eyes don’t burn out by trying to read it all, in effect, this Code grants the Governor, under various conditions, powers equal to the powers that any tsar in Russia once had!

I have The Constitution of the State of Tennessee, Revised November 4, 2014. It is 26 pages. I read every page. I searched every page for the phrase “executive order.” The phrase does NOT exist in the Tennessee Constitution! I searched the word “order.” The word is present, but the word “order” is NOT associated with any type of special executive branch power.

Since the Tennessee Constitution does NOT grant executive order power, and since executive order power IS taken by the Governor, then, logically, the conclusion is that the Governor does NOT have Constitutional power to issue ANY executive order in the State of Tennessee.

Of course, I know that the lawyers and legal scholars out there will take humor in my logical reasoning. My reasoning will be defined as simple and uneducated. These lawyers and legal scholars had better not build a straw man argument, by attacking the man (me) and not the man’s (my) position. If they try that rebuttal, I am able to defend my position quite well.

My stand for freedom, as a free citizen of the State of Tennessee and of the United States of America has been demonstrated in my following last three most recent actions.

First, 4/10/20, Good Friday, I hiked House Mountain #168. Second, 4/11/20, two other men and I gathered and did not stay six feet apart at times, while we did some target shooting, etc., at the homeplace. (See my two posts on 4/12/20, Passover Sunday, for the details.)

My third, and most recent, action was on 4/16/20, Thursday. I “clocked out” from work-at-home at 3:30 PM. I drove to the back door entry of my barber’s shop. By means of the clandestine arrangement that we had established the week before, by phone, as a free man in a free country, I got a haircut from my fine barber! My barber was concerned enough by the unconstitutional closure of various “not essential” businesses, such as his, to ask me, as well as several other clients, to park around back, so that the law would not drive by, catch him cutting hair, and arrest both his client and him. Of course, my barber cuts hair by clandestine appointment now. He takes one client at a time. No one is waiting in a chair, to be next in the barber chair. He schedules clients an hour apart, so that he can disinfect his barbershop. He wears surgical gloves and a mask. He still cuts hair! His business is off, naturally, since he cannot, by the unconstitutional executive order, expect his daily walk in clients.

My barber is a microcosm of the total economic disaster that has befallen our nation, due to the unconstitutional (Federal and State) restrictions on a free people in a free nation. I remember, as a teenager, the 1970’s oil embargo and the gas rationing. I remember the 9/11/2011 attacks on this nation. I remember various economic recessions and how our nation overcame them. (Ronald Reagan’s recovery from the Jimmy Carter recession stands out.)

I fear no man or no event. This COVID-19 insanity is a frightful time in this country for many. Many fear the virus. Others fear how the federal government and the various state governments are restricting, unconstitutionally, the freedoms of a free people. What? Church assemblies, face-to-face, are subject to fines and/or arrest? What? I can’t get a haircut, unless arranged clandestinely? What? I can’t park in the parking lot, to go hiking?

I STAND my ground, as a free American and as a free Tennessean! I WILL NOT back down. Join me?

Facts

I hear the reaction of some. You say that we must stay at home, not work, and do no more than the essential to live, to keep the body count from COVID-19 down. We must kill the economy to save lives.

Okay, to those who react accordingly, here are the facts, for the State of Tennessee.

Leading Causes of Death, 2014 – 2017
(NOTE: the State of Tennessee, apparently, can calculate to 2017 only, which is two years behind the times. 2014 – 2017 is four full years.)

Total deaths: 268,881 divided by 4 years divided by 12 months is 5,601.68 per month. (How does .68 of a person die? Ha! I won’t round up or down.)

Top five leading causes of death (calculates):
-- Heart disease: 1,298.27 monthly
-- Malignant Neoplasms (i.e., Cancer): 1,189.23 monthly
-- Chronic Lower Respiratory: 357.85 monthly
-- Accidents/adverse effects: 339.20 monthly
-- Cerebrovascular disease: 287.33 monthly

Note: 8th leading cause (calculates):
-- Pneumonia & influenza: 135.48 monthly

Traffic Deaths, 1/1/20 to as of 4/16/20 (via
-- 01/20:  74
-- 02/20:  88
-- 03/20:  75
-- 04/20 (as of 4/16/20):  32
Total so far 1/1/20 to 4/16/20:  269
Note: 1/1/20 to 3/31/20 is three full months. This calculates to 79 a month.

Tennessee COVID-19 Total Deaths, as of 4/19/20 2:55 PM (via

-- 145 have died. The link also shows the number of cases and the number of recovered cases, as if that matters.

On 4/18/20, at 5:35 PM, I did the same search. I found 142 deaths. We had three more deaths, so far, today.

I can only assume that the Tennessee COVID-19 deaths are from 1/1/20 to 4/19/20, at 2:55 PM. (I apologize to the families of those who have passed. I hope that the deceased had taken up the Good Lord’s free gift offer and were ready to go. Crunching numbers, as I am now, does NOT mean that I am unsympathetic to the COVID-19 deaths.)

Summary of deaths, by reason in Tennessee:
-- Pneumonia & influenza: 135.48 monthly (2014 – 2017 calculated, as the 8th leading cause of death).
-- Total 1/1/20 to 4/16/20 traffic deaths: 269.
-- Total COVID-19 deaths (assume 1/1/20 to 4/19/20 2:55 PM): 145.

Conclusion

The conclusion is logical. We MUST all stop driving. The Tennessee ‘govrmint’ MUST force, by unconstitutional means, a free people to stop driving! The rational is that more people have died by vehicle accidents than by COVID-19 in 2020. If we use the same illogic as the ‘govrmint,’ then we MUST reach the SAME conclusion regarding driving as we do about working, dining out, gathering closely with friends and family, getting a haircut, etc.
Introduction

Do you agree? If so, I know why. If not, use your logic to explain why not! I dare you! By the way, the hypothetical rebuttal that the unconstitutional executive orders, to stay at home, etc., have kept the COVID-19 death total down is mere speculation, as there is NO data to support the hypothetical rebuttal. Note: since heart disease takes 1,298.27 monthly (2014 – 2017 calculated), then, logically, the ‘govrmint’ could mandate, by executive order, that folks start eating right and getting plenty of exercise! This is the logical conclusion.

Stay free and live free, Tennesseans and Americans!

HOMEPLACE TARGET SHOOTING & YARD WORK 4-11-2020 SATURDAY

On Saturday, 4/11/2020, the weather was still cool enough and sunny. (The morning frost was refreshing!) With power continuing in my body, I drove to and from the homeplace, in Hawkins County. My good friend “Gator” and my youngest brother arrived. The good neighbor from across the road came by to visit, on his 4-wheeler. (I shook his hand! The “govrmint” spies didn’t see us do so!)

We set up targets and did some target shooting! 4/20/2019, the Saturday between Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday, was the last time that I’d “pulled a trigger.” I was determined to shoot again on 4/11/2020! I am determined to target shoot more this year! The three of us had a great time, shooting and talking!

Next, we cleaned up the trimmings, where my youngest brother had cut upon his arrival, with his gas-powered saw trimmer. The yard looks a little better now. I must do more work, to get the yard back to how it looked, before my 3/29/2016 “life event” (about which I’ve written before).

My youngest brother was delayed, due to the unfortunate passing of one of his wife’s aunts. Well, it was fortunate for her, as she went Home. The unfortunate factor was the Resurrection Sunday weekend timing of her passing, for those of us who are still here.

My ’06 Frontier got a photo! This is looking west in the back yard. I’d piled a few sticks from the yard in the tailgate. Other hand tools for yard work and a bottle of water that we didn’t shoot are also in the tailgate. The yard had been moved a few days ago. I’ve given T&C Lawn Service a high recommendation in a previous post.

Now, this is a good photo, taken with my trusty Samsung not-semi-intelligent phone camera! (I though you’d agree! Note: I’ve used my Samsung phone camera to take most of my House Mountain photos, over the years.) The view is southeast, with most of the back acreage in view. You might be able to make out our shooting spot toward the back middle of the photo, near the closest trees, before the wood line. It’s to the right of the fishpond.

Of course, this post is on Resurrection Sunday (aka “Easter” to some folks). Yesterday, I had noticed the increase of the wind and the small clouds, bringing today’s rain. So, here I “sot” (as Dad would say) writing. By some twist of logic, the “govrmint” thinks that closing churches to face-to-face worship but not closing grocery stores, liquor stores, etc. is wise. I hear tell that some preachers have been arrested or threatened with arrest, by practicing the God-given right to worship him in a face-to-face congregational gathering. I understand “illegal” church assemblies. We held them in Russia, during our time there, from 1994 to 1999, when the Russian Orthodox Church used the Russian government to try to restrict us. They lost. God won. We were on God’s side.

Stay on God’s side. He is the majority. Even if you stand alone, you are in the majority.

Yes, I hope to get around to posting about the coronavirus, now called COVID-19 virus soon, maybe later today.

Oh, by the way, I have big news! My next-to-youngest brother’s birthday was 4/9/2020, which was a work-a-day at-home Thursday. We played phone tag a couple of times. I finally got him, by phone today! We talked about 45 minutes, starting at 4 PM! His family and he are enduring the “COVID-19 insanity” well enough. He remembered how “Gator” saved his life, when we hiked Devil’s Nose, back in the 1970’s. He has phone numbers for “Gator” now. I’m glad that they will be reconnecting.

HOUSE MT. #168 4/10/2020 GOOD FRIDAY, MOTHER-IN-LAW’S BIRTH DATE

On Good Friday, being off from work-at-home, I HAD to do what I DID, since I still have power in my body. (The will in my spirit will be present, even after my physical death, when I’ll hike heaven’s mountains!)

The birthday anniversary of my mother-in-law, who has gone Home, was on the same day also. House Mountain hike #168 was in her honor. Of course, as a free American, the parking area closure was not relevant. Mrs. Appalachian Irishman drove me to/from “my mountain” in the car. (Apologies are to my new, ol' truck!)

Enjoy the photos!

This is a bit blurry. Sorry! You’ve seen better photos at this spot! This is ridge trail, heading east, after I’d already climbed the west trail, to the west bluff, which took 34 minutes. Just as I started up the west trail, I met a family, going up also. The parents had a young son, who was hiking with two walking sticks that were braced to his arms. Their son’s nickname was “Big John.” Big John, about age eight, was doing fine, and I told him so! Never give up! I know.

This is going up a rocky area that I know very well. I’m getting close to the upper middle bluff now. I’m past the lower middle bluff. On 12/25/2013, Christmas Day, hike #99, while I was near the lower middle bluff, alone, I spoke, by cell phone, with a fine man, who owns property on the north side of the mountain. A game warden and he had been at the lower middle bluff a day or so before. With credibility, he stated that they both saw and heard a panther near this photo location, which I have passed through many times since.

Ah, I'm, now, at the upper middle bluff, looking west. The west bluff, where I time my hike up, is visible. The weather was cool enough and sunny. The Appalachian Irishman had his prayer and worship time with the Good Lord, again, as usual. Remember, in the long-term, the “good, bad, and ugly” (with apology to Clint Eastwood) here will place into perspective once we get Home! Again, I concluded that it was better for God to have created than not to have created. Do you wonder what I mean? You may understand. If not, ask me sometime!

Mrs. Appalachian Irishman awaited me, after my hike, to the right of this photo, in the car, at the side of the road. A few vehicles are parked farther to the upper right of this photo, not visible. I did meet a few brave Americans who, in defiance of the governor’s unconstitutional order, hiked as free citizens anyway! Yes, we exchanged sarcastic barbs! Stay free!

This is a view of part of the “govrmint” attempt to prevent free people from hiking freely, in the woods that never close! One cannot park in the upper or lower parking areas, but one can hike! The woods cannot be closed!
