APPALACHIAN IRISHMAN, BY THE NUMBERS: 12-31-2021, FRIDAY, at 11:02-03 AM (published 12-31-2021; article #287)

Great! We have another rainy and warm winter day, in “spring!” The morning fog, at least, lifted. This is not Camelot weather. By eight, the morning fog did not disappear (e.g., Camelot lyrics - Richard Burton, on Soundtrack Lyrics).

This morning, Tim Burchett (House Representative, TN, 2nd District) sent his email newsletter, for his 2021 year in review. His website is Congressman Tim Burchett (on, where one may read several news items and sign up, for his monthly newsletter. His website doesn't contain his archived newsletters, as I wish that it did. Tim, as he prefers to be called, is doing his best, to slow or reverse the USSA slide, into Socialist “Utopia.” I support and join him.

Tim's year in review inspired me, to check on my writing year in review. I took a minute (11:02-03 AM), to see a moment in time snapshot. I had to do something, aside from hope that the fog would lift, as it did, eventually.

Appalachian Irishman

Since the first article (of Monday, March 6, 2006), I have been able to see this website's statistics. Next March will be year sixteen. Today, at 11:03 AM, I saw my statistics, on Blogger Stats. (You can't access that website. Only I can, as owner.)

On 12/31/2021, Friday, at 11:03 AM, all time views, at the time, were 136,636. Today, at the time, views were 28 (so far). Yesterday's views were 124. This month's views were 1,925 (so far). Last month's views were 1,460. The view numbers keep increasing. That was a moment in time.

Twenty of the 286 total articles, before this one, were viewed or read, in the last seven days (12/24-30/2021), totaling 95 views, for those articles. They were as follows, with the view total beside each article. (Four articles, with dates emboldened, from 2006, 2009, and 2013 were viewed.)

-- FERRELL'S WELL DRILLING 3-8-1958, WEIGEL'S 12-21-2013 REMEMBERED 12-21-2021, CHRISTMAS 12-25-2021, AND 'LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL,' THE BACKDROP (published 12-26-2021) = 21 views.
-- MY “LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL” CONTINUES (published 12/29/2021; article #284) = 9 views.

-- How to Pronounce "Appalachian" - Revisited [12/12/2009] = 3 views.
-- Devil's Nose Mountain, Hawkins County [3/7/2006] = 2 views.
-- A Liberal's Stew [3/18/2006] = 2 views.
-- FEARGHAIL NIECES -- BASKETBALL PROUD! (published 12-19-2021) = 2 views.
-- FERRELL FAMILY GATHERING FUN, 7-3-2021 SATURDAY (published 7-5-2021) = 2 views.
-- DAD, 9/17/1927 – 1/25/2008, AGE 80: I REMEMBERED [1/25/2021] = 2 views.
-- 12-30-2000, SATURDAY, BECOMES 12-30-2021, THURSDAY (published 12/30/2021; article #286) = 2 views.

The first article, on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, mentions the number of international views, at that moment in time. I can track view totals, from which nations, at any time. I can't see the names or email addresses of viewers. I can't see who has signed up, by email, to know when I publish an article.

For 2021, this is the one hundred and twenty-first and final article. (A man has to stop, for the year, sometime!) I published 55 articles in 2020. Analytics show me data, on articles, from 2016 to 2019. This website's statistics page includes better details than the information in the next section.

Appalachian Irishman (since 3/6/2006) - Substack 12/23/2021+

The Thursday, December 23, 2021 article (the 280th on this website) was my first article, on Substack.

On 12/31/2021, Friday, at 11:02 AM, I saw my Substack website statistics (that requires my login), at that moment in time. The statistics are not as detailed, as the ones for this original website, Appalachian Irishman.

In nine days (12/23-31/2021, at 11:02 AM), Substack showed 30 readers. I have one Substack subscriber (known to me), who enrolled, to receive email notifications, when I publish on Substack. (I can see the email addresses, of subscribers, on Substack.)

Substack is useful. It may draw a wider audience, to my original website. (I will not republish this article, on my Substack platform.) This original website's statistics protect email subscribers (whom I can't see) better than my Substack platform (as I see subscriber email addresses).

The first semi-final game of the 2021 College Football Championship (No. 4 Cincinnati vs. No. 1 Alabama) is on now. I hope that Alabama does not win!

The second semi-final game (No. 3 Georgia vs. No. 2 Michigan) starts about 7:30 PM, this evening. I expect Georgia to lose. If so, then Georgia won't have to play Alabama, again, in the 2021 Championship game (on Monday, January 10, 2022). Georgia let Alabama beat them, on Saturday, 12/4/2021, in the SEC Championship game. Yes, I am still not over that loss!

Happy New Year, y'all – if it will be. We can always live in hope, even if we do die in despair. (That's an old Irish joke.) I am “enjoying” this spring weather today. We have had clouds, wind, sun, heavy rain. Now, 1/1/2022, 1:52 PM, we have sun and wind. I predict rain next. The pattern repeats.

This is my 1/1/2022 comment, to my 12/31/2021 article, “APPALACHIAN IRISHMAN BY THE NUMBERS, 12-31-2021, FRIDAY, 11:02 - 03 AM (published 12-31-2021; article #287).” The link is:

Alabama won, as I predicted, yesterday afternoon. Georgia won, as I didn't predict, last evening. I watched the entire Georgia game, having stayed up until about 11 PM. The 1/10/22, Monday, College Football National Championship game will be between my DAWGS and Alabama. We will see if Georgia will redeem itself, from their loss to Alabama, in the 12/5/21 SEC Championship game. We can always live in hope!

This morning, my 'ol Samsung, not semi-intelligent, cell phone started “white screen of death,” again. I fixed it early last year. After “enjoying” the morning, on Straight Talk “chat” and then direct call, I may need to get another not semi-intelligent cell phone. We can always life in hope that I can keep my 'ol phone!

For my Appalachian Irishman website (, my 12/2021 total viewers/readers was 1,960. (I was born in 1960.) In 2021, I wrote 121 total articles. I had 60,361 total views/readers. That is, on average, 5,030 views/readers a month (rounding down). I published this comment on my website (which I started on 12/23/2021).

Remember, in 2021, we can always live in hope! That dying in despair part is only for the folks, who decided freely, to not accept the Good Lord's gift of salvation and live according to it. I'm just trying to help folks, so they can die in joy, not despair!
